Beautiful Discovery…

       Lake Quinsiagamond Pottery!
This past weekend, I went to the Intergalactic Bead Show here in Newark. I had some shopping to do for a commission I am working on… And I discovered this artist – Natalie Gillihan, and her earthenware pendants. They are so detailed, and colorful, and best yet – symbolic, mythical…you name it. They spoke to me – loudly – right away. My work is also inspired by myths and folklore, world cultures, archetypes… I love her attention to detail, pieces glazed in multiple colors, they are exquisite little treasures…

A Tree of Life, Tree of Knowledge, or a World Tree is a central motif in many creation stories. With its roots reaching deep into the earth, and its branches stretching into the sky, it unites the two worlds of heaven and earth. The tree draws its life from the sun, earth and water, and is a source of life for animals and people alike. Because so many trees loose their leaves in the fall and grow new ones in the spring, the tree is also a symbol of rejuvenation.

I found the Blake quote I learned from David Whyte.

“My fingers emit sparks of fire with expectation of my future labours” ~Blake

    Beautiful Pendants!

    Cheers & Peace,
