When I was in High school in a ceramics class, my art teacher often let me work independently. One year she said – cookie cutters. And I was off and running. I still make a batch of (Ceramic) cookies for the tree each year.
I have cookie cutters that were my Grandmother’s Boesch’s and I have non traditional ones I have made for specific people: a violin, a Texas longhorn, a bat….
But my favorites are the seasonal motifs that everyone can enjoy, whether you celebrate Solstice, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa… gingerbread, snow men, moons and stars as we welcome back the sun after the longest night at Solstice.
I do sell some at my shows around this time of year, but I also give them as gifts! They are unglazed on the back as I think the minis ( shown above) make excellent gifts tags! Just personalize with Sharpie! I even took a “tray of cookies” to the wonderful staff at Playtime Doggy DayCare – Zoey’s home away from home!

Jenny, Love your energetic and colorful cookie cutter ornaments. The idea for using them as tags for presents and writing the person’s name on the unglazed back is super. I am going to try that next year!! Wishing you all the best for 2020

Your cookie cutter ornaments look good enough to eat. They are adorable and very festive. When I read how you left the backs unglazed – and before I got to the part about writing with a sharpie – I thought you were going to suggest they could be used as essential oil diffusers. Because how fun would scented ornaments be? 😉

Jenny, true to your blog (and the Reveal), I came back to see your wonderful ‘treats’ when your post was live. And so glad I did …they’re all so inspiring!
In my creative family of 5 sisters & Mom (before she passed recently) & even Dad, before his passing in 2001, we made ornaments for each Sister’s family +Mom +Dad for about 12-15 years. In many mediums and themes.Then it sort of ploofed out. That made for a lot of handmade ornaments to decorate each tree and now that I think of it, I should have taken part in the Challenge and just photographed all the different ones made and received … oh well. Love the idea of keeping ceramic backs unglazed for writing. Have a Happy New Year. Alysen
